    Sinopsis

    XVII. Tax collector for the King, Don Salluste (Louis de Funès) is as greedy as unpopular. His servant Blaze (Iives Montand) does not feel much esteem for him, but he does not dare to contradict him for fear of losing his job. On the other hand, Blaze is locally in love with the queen (Karin Schubert) and regrets that she is the monarch's wife. The shots change the day the queen communicates to Don Salluste who has lost her degree of gentleman because she is suspected that she is the father of an illegitimate child. Free adaptation of "Ruy Blas" by Víctor Hugo.
