The Reaper, a serial killer who mutilates and burns his victims before killing them, is wreaking havoc on the city. Inspector Aguirre, disbelieving and cynical, will be in charge of capturing him, immersed in a network of fears from the past among which he tries to preserve his sanity. This is one of the "penance" plots, a choral novel where a multitude of characters and stories wander that end up converging in a web of torture, cannibalism and death, in the center of which there is a crouching monster, who has woven his trap with zeal and infinite patience. And the hour when everyone must fulfill their penance is approaching and another angel came out of the altar, who had power over the fire, and cried with a loud voice TO THE ONE who had the sharp sickle, saying: Put in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the earth; because its grapes are ripe. And the angel cast his sharp sickle into the earth, and gathered the vineyard of the earth, and cast the grapes into the great winepress of the wrath of God. (Revelation 14:18:20)
