The Van Gogh brothers die just six months apart. In July 1890, Vincent committed suicide, and in January 1891, after a slow agony, marked by grief and a hint of madness, Théo died. He had furiously defended his brother's paintings, of which he was the legatee. It is then that Johanna Van Gogh Borges, Théo's widow, 28 years old, with a son who has not yet taken his first steps, begins to read the correspondence between the brothers. Poet, student of Percy Shelley, sympathizer with the incipient feminist movement and researcher at the British Museum, Johanna recovers some of her brother-in-law's paintings that had been abandoned in Paris and organizes a first exhibition of the painter in Holland. His life then changes course. And, in a way, ours too. Following the advice he finds in Vincent Van Gogh's own correspondence, slowly and with effort, he rescues a work that was destined to be forgotten... and that reached the top.
