A woman, Laura, arrives at a nursing home, on the shores of a Patagonian lake, in search of a man who can give her news about her father, whom she has not seen since her childhood. As far as he knows, that man, named Roque Pérez, shared the job with his father, several years ago, in a Patagonian city called Fiske Menuco. Roque Pérez will tell you the adventure of the founding of a strange political party in the midst of the worst economic crisis in Argentina, and the details of the bank robbery, carried out by a group of former political prisoners, prostitutes, choir singers and elderly retirees. He will also tell you about hopelessness, the shipwreck of everything, the general diaspora and the march towards nowhere that the group undertook after the robbery: the last caravan. In the events that Roque Pérez narrates, Laura finds it difficult to separate fantasy from real events. But those episodes, where the tragedy permanently borders on the ridiculous and the grotesque, have generated the legend of a town, in the middle of the desert, that began with the cemetery.
