In the 21st century, a small community of Christians survives in Mesopotamia that persists in defending the surprising idea that they are the descendants of the original settlers of Assyria and Babylon. Encouraged by the desire to discover what still remains of those men and women, a Spanish reporter, Fernando Pérez Barber, undertook an unusual adventure that led him to track for a hundred days those corners of Syria, Turkey, Iran and post-war Iraq where those modern Chaldean-Assyrians survive and resist. No one, in our time, had ever carried out such an undertaking. The author traveled in space and time and, in the company of the photographer Iñigo Úriz, traveled throughout the Middle East with no other sponsorship than that of his intellectual and adventurous impulse. His journey somehow evokes those bygone times in which many of the maps were yet to be created. Throughout their fortunate journey, the author of this work and his colleague stopped at remote and beautiful Turkish monasteries built by communities of hermits in the first centuries of Christianity; They spent the night in caves located next to the Tigris with no other company than wolves and a handful of Kurdish troglodytes; They shared a table and bedroom with the Zowaa militiamen (one of the few Christian guerrillas on the planet); They stopped in very poor hamlets of Persian Azerbaijan, to talk with the last Christians of the East...
