Set in the five years prior to Dumas' 'Twenty Years Later', this novel reveals the stage of D'Artagnan's life in his love aspect, about which the classic barely informed us. Here we are told an adventure of the musketeer in which he is employed as a secret agent to obtain the Universal Peace Treaty, but his love affairs divert his attention more than is convenient. Halfway between homage and literary joke, Roger Nimier displays in this novel a fine sense of humor and exceptional literary skill. This is the first novel to be published in Spanish by Roger Nimier, an author who, like Céline, saw his work relegated to a secondary place by militant criticism in the postwar period.
