In “Under the influence”, under its subtitle of “Book of versions, mixtures and plagiarism”, hides one of the most original and surprising anthologies of stories published by Ajec. Under the common thread that is the author himself, or maybe not?, we delve into stories that touch on all the genres of the fantasy genre (horror, fantasy, science fiction) but often go much further, disrupting reality with barely a whisper. Among the many stories and characters that populate “Under the Influence” we find twins from 19th century Barcelona irremediably linked by their hair; to a Francoist censor, who, far from mutilating the texts in his charge, turns them into splendid miracles. A story of the Arabian Nights is remade and a film by Terry William is repeated, which he copied - in turn - from Chris Marker. Uneven documents are also translated: from the supposed last paragraphs written by Lovecraft, to a strange science article written by a Dublin alchemist in the 19th century. And a long etcetera of texts that hopefully deserve to be plagiarized again by others, so that one day someone will make this same book again, but more perfect.
