When legions of monstrous creatures, called Kaiju, begin to leave the sea, a war that will end with millions of lives and that will consume humanity's resources for endless years. To combat the Kaiju Gigantes designing a special type of weapon: huge robots, called Jaegers, which are simultaneously controlled by two pilots whose minds are blocked on a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers provide little defense against the tireless Kaiju. About the defeat, the forces that defend humanity have no other choice to resort to two unusual heroes: a former finished pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an apprentice who has not yet been put to the test (Rinko Kikuchi).
